‘The pool of artists was very strong but Laura Rosser’s ‘Golden Girl’ was a clear winner. … The image is obviously based on a photograph but far surpasses its source material. The expert way that Rosser has handled the surface to create the ground, the flesh, and the three different fabrics is breathtaking.
‘The only unfortunate thing for the artist on the day was that despite being hugely tempted to buy the piece, none of the art collecting trustees had adequate wall space to hang it.’
