Digital Flow/s: interdisciplinary digital arts and humanities practice-based research. 3d3 Legacy event

September 23, 2023

On Saturday 23rd September Laura participated in the Digital Flow/s symposium and exhibition celebrating the 3D3 doctoral training partnership at Watershed and Sparks in Bristol.

The 3D3 legacy symposium and exhibition, Digital Flow/s, is focused on sharing research from our cohort of interdisciplinary practitioner-researchers via practice, performance lectures, papers, and panel discussions.  The one day symposium, with keynote presentation from Kishan San of Forensic Architecture https://forensic-architecture.org/ , will take place at Watershed, Bristol, and the exhibition will be open to the public on Friday 21/9 and Saturday 22/9 from 11 to 6, and Sunday 23/9, 11 to 4,  at Sparks Bristol https://sparksbristol.co.uk/

Laura was grateful to receive a fully funded 3D3 studentship, which enabled her to undertake and complete her practice-based PhD. The 3D3 Centre for Doctoral Training is a partnership between Falmouth University, Plymouth University and the University of the West of England, Bristol. Launched in 2014, its aim is to train a new generation of interdisciplinary practitioner-researchers. These three universities, all located in South West England, are committed to fostering innovation through practice-led research in the creative and performing arts, especially the interrelated fields of digital design, digital media and digital arts (including music and performance). Funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC), 3D3 has trained researchers to meet the creative and design opportunities of the future, exploring the possibilities and challenges presented by rapidly evolving technologies, including the interface between digital processes and traditional methods. It offers a unique opportunity for creative scholar-practitioners working at the forefront of a rapidly expanding research landscape.
